We had the privilege of interviewing Kelly Flynn and got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at his story.
Flynn’s Legendary Start
Back in 1987, Flynn was on the air at a radio station in Las Vegas. In those days, there was no Internet, so when casinos needed an announcer, they turned to radio or TV stations. That’s when Flynn got the call for a new kind of casino event, a slot tournament.
At the time, slot tournaments were just beginning to gain traction, and Flynn quickly became a sought-after host for casinos across the industry. From there, he found his niche in hosting casino special events.
In 2017, San Manuel Casino invited Flynn to host their annual charity golf tournament, which opened the door to hosting additional special events and promotions, a role he’s continued ever since. With the grand reopening of Palms, Flynn expanded his expertise, bringing his signature energy to their events as well.
Favorite Part of the Job
Flynn often says, "It’s not hard to give away money." After all, most people are thrilled to hear their name called for a prize, and being the one to deliver that excitement is a privilege.
Over the years, I have had the joy of sharing these unforgettable moments with tens of thousands of people. Whether it’s announcing a jackpot winner, calling out a lucky raffle draw, or hosting a high energy casino event, the pure excitement and joy on people’s faces never get old.
For Flynn, being a part of these special moments has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his career.
Most Challenging Aspects of the Job
Flynn constantly challenges himself to be as creative and engaging as possible when making casino wide announcements, not just for the benefit of Yaamava' guests, but for team members as well. He understands that “a promotion lasting several hours can become repetitive, so keeping the messaging fresh and exciting is key,” Flynn explains.
Rather than simply repeating the same phrases, Flynn strives to “infuse energy, variety, and personality into every announcement.” Whether it’s adjusting his tone, adding a touch of humor, or finding new ways to build anticipation, his goal is to make every moment feel dynamic and engaging. For him, “keeping things fresh isn’t just a challenge, it’s a passion that helps create an unforgettable experience for everyone at Yaamava’,” he says.
Flynn’s Most Memorable Moment at Yaamava’
Throughout Flynn’s career, he’s awarded several million-dollar prizes, but these were typically structured as payouts over 20 years with slim odds that made winning seem nearly impossible.
