Fashion Daze
The first-ever Yaamava’ Fashion Daze, an event held April 20-21, 2023, at Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel, provided an opportunity for Native American designers to showcase their work.
The event also featured a panel discussion moderated by Vogue contributor Christian Allaire with Indigenous designers and San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Tribal Citizens.

Jamie Okuma

Jennifer Younger
(Tlingit—Eagle Kaagwaantaan clan) draws inspiration from traditional Tlingit formline designs, historic artifacts, spruce root basket weaving patterns, as well as the contrast and texture of metals.
Justin Louis
Creative Director and Founder of SECTION 35. He is a member of the Samson Cree Nation and was born and raised in Nipisihkopahk (Samson) on Treaty 6 Territory. His work blends the past with the present and finds inspiration in the juxtaposition between these elements.
Orlando Dugi
Orlando Dugi draws inspiration from his childhood memories of stargazing in the desert of northern Arizona while spending summer vacations on his paternal grandparents’ sheep ranch.

FASHION PANEL DISCUSSION
The two-day event also featured a panel discussion that highlighted the intersectionality of Native voices emerging in fashion design and the need for representation. The discussion was hosted by Vogue’s Christian Allaire featuring Sabrina Castenada, San Manuel Tribal Citizen and retail business owner in Los Angeles; Amaris Calderon, San Manuel Tribal Citizen and Fashion Influencer; Amber Midthunder, Native Actress; Jamie Okuma, Native Fashion Designer.
